Welcome to Greenwood-Leflore Consolidated School District Food Service Department
We are excited to start a new school year!
Our National School Breakfast and Lunch Program is a federally funded program that currently operates under the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) which allows the students of Greenwood-Leflore Consolidated School District to eat meals at no cost. The district participates in other federal school meal programs which include the After School Care Program and the Summer Feeding Program.
Greenwood-Leflore Consolidated School District is committed to providing a school environment that promotes and protects our children’s health and well-being. We take pride in allowing students the opportunity to have access to a variety of healthy choices and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs for a long time.
Our goal is to serve students nutritious meals that enhance their ability to learn while promoting healthy eating habits.

GLCSD Wellness Plan Description
To support the relationship between student health and academic achievement, the 2014 Mississippi Public School Accountability Standards (Standard 17.5.1) and the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 (HHFKA) requires each local school to establish a local school wellness policy. Mississippi Code of 1972, Annotated Section 37-13-134 requires the recommendations made by a school health council to be based on a coordinated approach to school health. This document seeks to satisfy these requirements.
The following minimum requirements are established by federal legislation. Specifically, federal legislation requires:
- Goals for nutrition education, physical activity, and other school-based activities that are designed to promote student wellness in a manner that the local education agency determines is appropriate;
- Nutrition guidelines selected by the local educational agency for all foods available on each school campus under the local educational agency during the school day with the objectives of promoting student health and reducing childhood obesity;
- Assurances that guidelines for reimbursable school meals are not less restrictive than the regulations issued by the USDA;
- Ways of measuring how well the school wellness policy is being implemented, including the designation of one or more persons at each school with operational responsibility for ensuring that the school is meeting the policy;
- Involvement of parents, students, representatives of the school food authority, the school board and school administrators, and the public, in developing the wellness policy.
Any stakeholder of the Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School District can assist in the development of the district's Wellness Plan. If you are interested in participating in this process, you may call (662)-644-0678 to express your interest.
Representatives from the district and the community who comprise the Wellness Committee met to review, revise, assess and identify strategies to ensure implementation of the 2019/2020 Wellness Plan. This plan received approval at the November 4, 2019, board meeting.
